Sunny Swimwear Trends For 2010
When the weather outside is dreary and the winter months seem to drag on forever, there can sometimes be nothing better than planning a sunny summer holiday. Whether planning to jet off abroad or simply make the most of the clement weather at home, there’s nothing that’s quite as good at lightening the spirits as thinking about lounging on green grass or by a sun soaked pool.
Of course, if you’re going to be baring some flesh in the hope of catching some rays, you’re sure to want to do it in style. Luckily, the swimwear trends for 2010 are fab and funky and wonderfully varied – meaning there should be fashionable styles to suit everyone from the bravest to shyest swimmers.
One of the biggest things we are seeing in swimwear this year is a lot of bright colours. The 80s revival that has been seeing the resurgence of everything from leggings to batwing tops has added a splash of its lurid colours to summer design collections, so if you want a bang on trend piece of swimwear in your beach bag, choose a bikini or one piece in fluorescent colours. You’ll also be able to find lots of bold and bright designs, perfectly matched to the arresting colours.
If you don’t think that bright is beautiful, you’ll be happy to know that florals and paisleys are also big prints for swimwear in 2010 so you can be on the cutting edge without the fluorescent-factor. Other themes cropping up this year include a nautical slant – think stripy sailor blues and whites with buckles and red highlights – and asymmetric one shoulder styles. Cutaway swimsuits and bikinis are still big this year too, but are perhaps best chosen by those planning more sunbathing than swimming!
However, the most fun and flexible trend for 2010′s beach beauties has to be the mix and max theme. This means you can take pieces from your favourite bikinis and mix them up, which is great if you have particular parts of your body you want to highlight or draw attention away from – for example a bight top and dark bottoms will slim your lower half while a pair of shorts with a ruffled top will make small busts look bigger.
With such flexible swimwear for women hitting the shops in time for summer 2010, you’re sure to find that choosing your bikini or swimming costume for summer outs a big, sunny smile on your face.
