Every Body Can Look Great In A Bathing Suit

Figure-Hugging Bathing Suits for All Body Shapes

Every woman wants to feel thin and shapely, especially in a bathing suit. With the right style and cut, there is no reason why any woman has to feel self-conscious about revealing her body on the beach or at the pool.

Choosing the right swimsuit for your figure can be tricky, but certainly not impossible. The most important thing to determine before purchasing a swimsuit is figuring out what you plan to do in your swimsuit, meaning, will you mostly be swimming laps in a pool? Do you plan on doing a lot of sun-tanning? How about something cute and glamorous to parade around in at pool parties and beach bonfires? Each of these scenarios can affect the performance of the bathing suit, which is why there are many varieties that cater to each purpose.

Athletic bathing suits usually involve higher concentrations of synthetic material to withstand chlorine exposure and perspiration. It also provides more flexibility around the joints involved in making high-powered movements, molding into the body and around the muscles to become more like a second layer of skin rather than a restrictive suit. Athletic bathing suits typically come in a one-piece, but they can also be made into two-pieces with extra firming fabric around the “looser” areas. People who swim laps or play beach volleyball will find athletic swimsuits highly useful. Even non-athletes can sometimes prefer athletic swimsuits for their unparalleled flexibility and simple cuts.

For leisure activities, such as sun-tanning or pool parties, the look of the swimsuit is more important than anything. Sun-tanners would likely prefer a swimsuit that reveals more skin all around while covering strategic areas. Lightweight fabrics that provide breathability and reflective properties help keep you from sweating through your sunscreen. For more glamorous purposes, there are bathing suits in bejeweled colors, innovative textures, and accessories appropriate for the classiest affairs. Even one-pieces have begun to up their design standards and create cuts that enhance certain areas. For example, a sweetheart-curved chest hem adds extra lift to provide more cleavage. Often times, it’s the little details that really give bathing suits, and consequently your figure, a certain fashionable “je ne sais quoi”.

But more important than a good-looking bathing suit is an even better-looking body! With compression fabrics now being implemented into modern bathing suits, tummies look flatter and derrieres are given the extra lift that all women seek. Whether it’s a one-piece that cinches around the waist or a two-piece that enhances your bottom, there is an endless variety of colorful and stylish bathing suits to complement every body shape for any occasion.

 Fighting The Current

In 1926, Gertrude Ederle became the first female to swim the English Channel. Although today she is considered a pioneer in women”s swimming, women were swimming competitively 50 years earlier. This historical book describes the origins of women”s competitive swimming in the United States, beginning in the nineteenth century through Ederle”s astonishing accomplishment. Women and girls faced many obstacles to safe swimming opportunities, including restrictive beliefs about physical abilities, access to safe and clean water, bathing suits that did not allow for movement, and opposition from official sporting organizations. Placed in the context of the current popularity of women”s sports, this book is a testament to how far female athletes have come.
